Regardless of how many articles we have written in the past, we appear to have trouble getting the 1st line out on the screen. The very first thing I generally do to assist in getting started is to scribble out an outline for my article. The outline gives a starting point and should make the rest of the process that much easier. Get the outline complete and you’ll find that the rest of the article writing process is much more simple and quicker.
Put aside about 15 minutes and just write whatever comes to your brain without modifying. Think about some concepts you want to cover and write supporting points for those thoughts. Review your notes and then assemble your outline. When you arrange your outline keep in mind the target of the article. Then determinate the main points you need to cover. As you come up with more supporting material, your outline will build. After this, create an intro for each one of your sections.
At this stage you should come up with a end point. The conclusion should be supporting of all the main concepts in your outline. You now should have enough material for a first draft of the article. Your revision process should be a similar process to your brainstorming. Just write without modifying and do not be bothered with perfection.
Understand that nobody will be reading your first draft. Your draft will later be refined into the article which will be the polished product. As you move thru this process, you’ll see the article form before you. Always refer to the outline and let it serve as the central point of your article. An outline doesn’t only offer a plan for your article, it gives you a jump off point to work with.
Your article outline creation abilities will be something you will refine with a little bit of practice. If you continue this process, you will be creating articles more effectively and quickly in almost no time.
